Pantheon

Y’Golonac, Nyarlathotep, and Sin

Note: This was originally published over 3 years ago. I may update this in due time, as I am interested in speaking with lesser known deities of the pantheon, and I have a much greater personal understanding of the nature of Nyarlathotep. Y’Golonac is a brute, largely referring to physical appearance. If he manifests physically it is always as a large headless humanoid figure with mouths on his hands— interesting

Nyarlathotep and TST’s Energetic Patterns

(This post is theory, though it is grounded in both observations from others, and those that have been made about primary source material.) From others’ writings we have established that Nyarlathotep has some interesting effects on emotions, using his mental and energetic capabilities. Ny is very capable of manipulating others psychologically, and this carries over into his energetic makeup— as mentally based energy. We can witness the emotional effects of

Sundered and the Eschaton Prayer

“We shall deliver you from slumber. Bless us with a new form, and cleanse us all. Aelleah”
— Eschaton Prayer This is the Eschaton prayer. If we assume the Eschaton function like a polytheistic religion, albeit a cult, we can likely safely assume they have other prayers as well. This particular prayer has some in-game significance:
What the Eschaton priests were doing already was releasing their gods (from other dimensions most

Sundered and The Eschaton Cultists

The Eschaton cultists are one of the two groups you can follow in the footsteps of in Sundered. The other group are the Valkyrie, essentially a military state, whom I will cover in another post. Moderate lore spoilers, nothing too big, no “trade secrets” released.  Sacrifice: A big element of their religion. The Eschaton are very eager to sacrifice and this is noted in several of their religious texts and quotes

Sundered and Human Expendability

Something about eldritches that has always intrigued me is that some of them are interested in humans. Since eldritches are partially a psychological embodiment of cosmicism (humans are ants in the cosmic scheme and ultimately very unimportant), based on their feelings and actions towards humans, it is interesting to see The Shining Trapezohedron take such an interest in the Eschaton (specifically Bah’gor) and express such vitriol for the Valkyrie. I

Sundered and Eldritch Power

One of the interesting things about Sundered is its exploration of eldritch powers and corruption. It is a defining theme of the game. I am going to skip over the plot (which I quite enjoyed) and more literary elements in favor of just discussing the aspects involving eldritch energy. In the game, The Shining Trapezohedron is Eshe’s weapon. This is likely achieved through some kind of energetic and physical bond.
